Just FYI, Hollywood Makeup Studio does NOT carry real mink eyelash extensions. Real mink eyelash extensions come from mink animals usually kept in mink farms. Besides, the fact that we do not agree with animal cruelty, studies have shown that there is a higher risk of having a negative reaction to real animal hair such as mink. Real mink hair may pose some health risks if the hair was not sanitized properly, which is almost impossible to verify.

Also, real mink eyelash extension lose its curl quickly and may crimp while on the client's lashes. Faux mink eyelash extensions are guaranteed to be clean, sterile, and will never lose its curl. For these reasons we feel that it is in the best interest of the lash stylist and client to not offer real mink eyelash extensions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What are Classic vs. Volume vs. Hybrid Lashes?

Classic Lashes are 1 extension attached to 1 natural lash.

Volume Lashes are multiple (very fine lashes the fraction the diameter of a classic extension) applied to natural lashes in custom made fans of 2, 3, 4 + lashes. Volume lashes can be dense or whispy, depending on the wearers preference. They are great for giving sparse natural lashes a full look.

Hybrid Lashes are a combination of the two techniques to create a stunning, multi-textured look. Hybrid Lashes are our clients' favorite!

What lash service do you recommend for first time clients?

We recommend all new clients start with a Full Classic set. For every natural lash that is healthy enough to lash we put one extension. This will give you a baseline of how many natural lashes you have to work with. A full classic set is very natural looking because they go exactly where each natural lash is. If you decide you'd like a fuller look you could do volume lashes in a future service.

Can I choose how my Extensions are going to look?

Yes! Every set of lashes is customized to your personal preference - whether you want them soft and natural or big, bold and glam. Since your eyelashes are unique to you, your lash artist will evaluate your natural lashes and recommend the best way to reach your desired look while maintaining their optimal health.

How long do Eyelash Extensions last?

We naturally shed 3-5 natural lashes per eye per day. That equals 20-35 natural lashes shed per eye per week. Depending on client aftercare and personal rate of lash turnover, Full Sets of lashes last 3+ weeks and Light Sets approximately 10-14 days. They fall off when either your lash falls out naturally at the end of its life cycle or when the adhesive wears off. To maintain lash fullness, we recommend touch ups every 2-3 weeks for full classic and volume/hybrid sets.

Will Eyelash Extensions ruin my natural lashes?

Extensions that are applied appropriately for the length/strength of your natural lashes will not damage your lashes. A good lash artist also ensures that the natural lashes are not stuck to each other, which can cause irritation. When applied properly most client lashes become stronger, longer and fuller and there is no need to "take breaks" from wearing them.

Can I keep them on year-round?

Yes! Most lash wearers keep them on continuously while others get them a few times a year - for vacations, special occasions, etc.

Can I get them wet?

After the first 24-48 hours you are free to swim, surf, snorkel, cliff dive (really!) to your heart's content. Many clients get lashes specifically for beach vacations!

When do I get a fill?

Typically lash refills are done when 50% of the full set of extensions remain. Most wearers have a 1 hour touch up every 2-3 weeks on a full set, similar to getting nails done. That's only 20-30 dollars a week to not have to wear eye makeup! And wake up looking like a lash-goddess everyday!

Please Note: If less than 50% of a full set remain a new set will be required. Kindly please schedule your appointments wisely to ensure that we have enough time to restore your lashes to their full beauty!

How do I clean my lashes?

Lashes should be cleaned at least once a day with an oil free cleanser and a tissue or soft makeup brush. We offer several different types of cleansers and makeup removers formulated specifically for eyelash extensions to keep them healthy and prevent bacterial buildup.

Will you fill my lashes from another salon?

To ensure the highest care and quality of client lashes, fills are only available to current clients. The products and techniques used by other lash artists may vary significantly from those used in our salon.

Do I need to use a lash curler or wear mascara?

No curlers or mascara needed! Eyelash extensions stay curly and give the look of mascara.

I'm Under 18 Years Old - Can I get Lashes?

Yes but you must bring a parent to your appointment to authorize consent for services or your appointment will be cancelled and charged. No exceptions.

Are lashes a good idea for my wedding (or other special event)?

Lashes are terrific for all special events! If you have never worn lash extensions, it is recommended that you apply a set about 3 weeks prior to the event. If you love them (you totally will!) return the week of the event for a touch up to make sure they're full for your big day and to make any style tweaks.

What is the easiest way to remove the lashes?

If you only have a few lashes left on, put on mascara so that you can see where your natural lashes end then trim the extensions to match. Over the next few days if you wear mascara, the rest of the extensions will fall out. If you have a significant number of lashes to remove from another salon, please reach out to us for a consultation on lash removal in our studio.

What if I'm allergic to the adhesive? Does it get in my eye or on my skin?

Allergic reactions are uncommon and extreme reactions are very rare. If you have ever experienced a reaction to adhesives please let your lash artist know asap. A properly trained lash artist will use a very tiny amount of adhesive - almost invisible to the naked eye. The lashes are attached about 1-2 millimeters away from the base of the natural lash. Due to the oils in our skin, the adhesive does not adhere to the skin and will fall off within a few hours.

What if my natural lashes are too short, thin, damaged, have gaps or other issues?

We recommend calling to setup a free consultation and lash assessment prior to making an appointment where we can let you know your options. Please note that if you have lashes with issues and you many not be a good candidate for extensions and you choose to make an appointment anyhow, we will apply what we are able to and you will be charged or the service but there are no guarantees on outcome or retention. Best advice - call first before scheduling!
