Powder/Ombre Brows ($450)

is a semi-permanent makeup procedure where it incorporates pigment to the top layer of skin through a single-needle application to ensure that your look is most natural.  Ombre Brows, Powder Effect, Shading--all different names for essentially the same process. It is the process of creating a ‘filled in’ or ‘penciled in’ look for the eyebrows.

While it's a similar process to getting a tattoo, the result is much more natural looking. The ink that is used is far less concentrated than that of a regular tattoo and is specifically formulated for permanent makeup.

Who Should Consider Powder Brows?

We recommend powder brows for individuals with oily skin, mature skin and for those wanting a soft makeup look. The soft makeup look means that the tails of the brows are darker and fade to a lighter at the start of the brows, giving them a subtle look.

The ideal candidates for powder brows are those who have hair, but still like to fill in with makeup. At the same time, it is actually amazing for those who don't have a lot of natural brow hair as well.

From our experience doing Permanent and Semi Permanent Makeup and Microblading, we have noticed that Ombre Brows always end up being the preferred choice of women who are used to penciling in their brows every day. It is also a better choice for women with oily skin.

Powdered brows traditionally last for 2-4 years while microblading usually lasts 2-3 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to prepare for permanent makeup appointment?
  • 24 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE, DO NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin or Vitamin E unless medically necessary.

  • Botox should be done 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the procedure.

  • Avoid booking during your menstrual cycle as it can increase your pain.

  • No waxing/tinting (for eyebrows) or tanning 3 days before.

  • Arrive with no makeup for your appointment. A lot of wiping of pigment takes place and makeup can get ruined, so save yourself the hassle!

  • For your brows, be prepared to see them a little red and really dark! – don’t worry, they will fade in color 30-50%.

  • For eyeliners, be prepared to see them a little bigger/thicker than what you expect. It’s just the swelling. It will get smaller once healed.

  • For lips, if you have ever had or are prone to cold sores, you must take Valtrex for 5 days before procedure. Also be prepared to see the color stronger than what you expect right after the procedure. They will fade in color 30-50%.

You are NOT a suitable candidate for this procedure if:
  • Pregnant

  • Have history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring

  • Diabetic (require doctor’s clearance)

  • Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)

  • Have viral infections and/or diseases

  • Epilepsy

  • Pacemaker or major heart problems

  • Organ transplant (consult your doctor)

  • Skin irritations or psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)

  • Sick (cold, flu, etc.)

  • Have been using accutane in the past year

  • Heart conditions, uncontrolled high blood pressure, poor general health.

  • Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system and healing would make you NOT a good candidate for permanent makeup procedures.

How long does a permanent makeup take?

It is a 2 step process—your initial procedure and a touch up, usually 6-8 weeks apart. It is important to complete both the initial procedure and touch up.

STEP 1: The initial procedure takes approximately 2 hours. During this time, a
consultation is done where we discuss your desired look, choose a color tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, the area is then traced over and semi-permanent pigment is applied.

For eyebrows permanent makeup procedure: Though our faces are NOT perfectly symmetrical (one side is usually flatter than the other), we do our very best to create as much symmetry as possible! As we like to say BROWS ARE SISTERS, NOT TWINS.

STEP 2: The second stage of the treatment is a touch up appointment. The touch up that takes approximately 1 hour. Touch ups are done no earlier than 4 weeks of your initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks. It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Color will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities, unevenness, color tones and finishes the process.**Occasionally a third touch up (4-6 weeks later) is necessary for certain clients where the pigment does not take as well to the skin.**

How long can I expect it to last?

The pigment used is semi-permanent and can last between 1-3 years. The pigment will begin to fade within 12 months. In order to keep your permanent makeup looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 months to 24 months maximum.

After 2 years, full price for permanent makeup will apply. For clients that choose a softer look and lighter color shade initially or those who did not follow the after care instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups.

Factors that will cause your permanent makeup to fade faster:

  • Iron deficiency

  • Sun exposure

  • Exfoliants

  • Strong immune systems

  • Exposure to salt water

  • Smoking

Are “Semi-Permanent Makeup” deemed permanent?

Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the color is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

Does the application hurt?

We take every precaution necessary to ensure the procedure is as pain free as possible. A strong topical anesthetic cream is used prior to and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable while others report no discomfort at all.

How long is the recovery or healing time for eyebrow and eyeliner permanent makeup?

Immediately after your procedure and in the first 10 days, your permanent makeup will appear significantly darker and defined than perhaps your desired look. It may continue to get darker over the next few days as scabs begin to form, however this is not an accurate indication of the finished and healed result. 30-50% of your color will fade as the scabs fall off within 7-10 days. In some cases, the scabs may take longer to heal and fall off. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS. The pigment is within the scab and you do not want to pull any pigment out of your skin prematurely. We all heal differently and what works on one client may not be effective on another so please do not compare your results. The complete healing process takes approximately 4 weeks.

How do you choose a color?

We choose a color together by applying small amounts of different colored pigments to the skin near to your skin and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. For your brows, as a rule of thumb, we closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair color for the most natural results.

What types of pigments do you use?

We use iron oxide pigments that will fade over time and are naturally absorbed by the skin. Iron oxides are innocuous, harmless and perfectly safe for your skin.

Can I have permanent makeup done if I’m pregnant?

No, you cannot have this treatment done if you are pregnant in case of infection.

Does it hurt afterwards?

The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and tender to touch for a couple days.

Can you microblade over an existing brow tattoo?

Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo and submit a picture to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.

Will my microbladed brows look fake?

No. Semi-Permanent makeup is done using a cosmetic tattooing process and our eyebrow pigmentation unique artistry creates soft, natural looking eyebrows. When we implant semi-permanent makeup pigment in the skin, it appears more natural looking than topically applied cosmetics.

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding. This depends on the
client. If you take blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding
may occur. Bruising is rare but can occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days.

PLEASE NOTE: THE RESULTS ARE VERY NATURAL AND FULLER LOOKING BROW. INITIALLY, THE BROWS APPEAR DARKER, BUT FADE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER A TWO WEEK PERIOD. IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL TO HAVE A TOUCH UP DONE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PREDICT HOW WELL YOUR SKIN WILL RETAIN THE PIGMENT. DUE TO THIS AND MANY OTHER VARYING FACTORS, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR RESULTS.
